A while back, someone evaluating my work said I should remove family-client work from my portfolio; and while I took his critiques seriously, I did not accept this premise. Work for family requires extra scrutiny and patience, especially when success means not having to pay rent for a couple months and when the client is not afraid to be extra critical.
ACM was established after the owner left semi-retirement (pulled a Farve) and reopened shop with a new concept and business plan. It was important to utilize the client's name, reputation and ideas from his past branding for recognition while repackaging his new endeavor.
Similar typography and a reduced color palette work with a fresh graphic and styling to emphasize a recognized name while appealing to new potential clients. The client has never been so impressed with his designer.
